Please could you kindly pass on this email to express my heartfelt thanks to all who contributed to the floral tribute that was sent to my late husband's funeral, it was a great comfort to all the family to receive the lovely wreath in the De Laune colours and to know that Dennis was so well thought of and remembered by De Laune, of which he was so proud to be a member.

I'd particularly like to thank those who attended the funeral last week and for the Obituary on the website - a great tribute, thank you.

Thanks also to John and Barbara Pound for their floral tribute.

Sadly I don't have any of their email or postal addresses to thank them personally so please could you send me their contact details, or indeed forward this email to those concerned.

Kind Regards,

Freda Tarr

Chas Messenger’s book recalls the stage 10 of the Tour of Britain as 138 miles and Met office forecast a 15 mph head wind.

An early escape after leaving Skegness included Kowalskie of Poland, Gorge Bamford, Vimer, Ken Hill, Trussel, Law and Pete Ward got through the level crossing at Brigg together with the bunch at 50 secs. Only to be stopped at Gunners Bridge by police who were stopping everything looking for escaped prisoners from Lincoln Jail. Kowalski persisted in attacking until the Crowle bridge swung open to halt the race again.

At Goole, Kowalskie went again joined by Domanski, Surminski, Echevarria, Den Tarr, Malton, and Bennet for company. By Market Weighton the lead was 6 mins over the field and 2 mins on a chasing group of Uribezubia, Bill Segger, Pacha, Malten, Bednarczyk and hero Kowalski who had been dropped from the leading group.

Over the lumps and bumps the leaders wre caught by the chasing group as they climb Langgtoft. Riders get tailed off with a front group to form 8 riders with the bunch at 8 mins.  They hurry over Foxholes and screaming down towards the finish Den Tarr pulling one out of the bag to win from Echevarria, Domanski 3rd and Uribezubia 4th . The bunch at 8 mins.

Dennis raced again age 56 and won many LVRC and TLI events plus a UCI silver and bronze Master’s track medal at Manchester Velodrome.
